How to care for aluminium structures
Aluminium structures need no painting or impregnation, but a few simple rules will make them last longer.

Everyday care
Aluminium profiles do not rust or rot, so care is simple: once or twice a year wash the structure with water, a mild soap solution and a soft cloth.
Ordinary glass cleaners work on a glass roof. Wash polycarbonate with a soft sponge only: a rough surface would scratch it.
Before winter
- Clean the gutters. Leaves and small branches stop the water draining.
- Check the fixings. Once a year it is worth checking that no bolts have worked loose.
- Heavy snow. After very heavy snowfall it is safer to clear the roof.
What to avoid
- Close-range pressure washing: it can damage the seals.
- Abrasives and solvents: they scratch the painted surface and the polycarbonate.
- Salt mixtures at the base of the columns in winter.
